Introduction
What follows is not detailed
discussion of optimisation but a brief explanation of how we
can make use of optimisation algorithms for the particular application
of determining the 'best' splay angles for a line array loudspeaker.
Fundamental to this is obtaining
a performance metric for a given SPL distribution otherwise known
as 'objective functions'. This involves analysing the SPL distribution
to determine how well it satisfies our objectives of smooth,
defined and concentrated SPL.
It is important to note that
optimisation will not compensate for poor system design skills,
the intention is to remove some of the more tedious aspects relating
to line array splay angles. |
